San Marcos, CA – Several Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on Santa Fe Ave

San Marcos, CA (April 22, 2024) – On Sunday night in San Marcos, several victims were transported to the hospital following a head-on collision involving three vehicles, according to authorities. The collision occurred at around 8:00 p.m. near South Santa Fe Avenue and North Rancho Santa Fe Road. According to witness accounts, a blue Honda SUV collided head-on with a red Honda SUV and a white Toyota.

Deputies report that a 24-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, and their infant were occupants of the red Honda SUV. SDSO reported that although the infant was not injured at the scene, the parents were transported to Palomar Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As a precaution, the infant was transferred to Rady Children’s Hospital. Authorities stated that paramedics evaluated the 46-year-old Toyota driver, though their current condition was unknown, and the wrong-way driver was also hospitalized.

Authorities continue to investigate whether alcohol played a role in the collision. SDSO reports that no one has been brought into custody in the interim.
