Chula Vista, CA (April 21, 2024) – Authorities apprehended a motorist who returned to the scene after a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista early on Saturday morning, which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Around 3:00 a.m., the man was struck and thrown off his motorcycle, which was traveling north along Main Street. The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene, per local officers. For almost an hour, the California Highway Patrol blocked the roadway to conduct an investigation.
While assisting with the closure, Chula Vista police officers were obstructing the northbound I-5 on-ramp when a man arrived in a car with significant front-end damage and requested to talk with officers. The individual was detained for questioning, but the investigation into the incident remains ongoing in the meantime.
