San Diego, CA (December 22, 2024) – A portion of Interstate 8 near the U.S.-Mexico border was shut down Sunday night after a fiery multi-vehicle crash.
All lanes of I-8 west at Ribbonwood Road near the SR-94 junction were closed at 8:40 p.m. Sunday after a multi-vehicle crash. The California Highway Patrol reported that at least five vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in a collision. One vehicle reportedly rolled and went off the interstate. Another vehicle is reported to have caught fire and exploded. It’s unclear how many injuries were confirmed at the site.
However, an inquiry is still underway, and anyone who witnessed or has information about the crash is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol in San Diego.
