San Diego, CA (August 4, 2024) – An SUV driver struck and killed a 37-year-old man after reportedly running a stop sign in Otay Mesa Friday evening, San Diego police said.
The crash happened as the man was walking southbound across Del Sol Boulevard near Kostner Drive just before 7:00 p.m., Officer Jose Perales confirmed. A 77-year-old woman headed west in a 2010 Toyota failed to stop at the sign and collided with the man, Perales said. The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a hospital, where he died. Traffic Division officers are investigating the crash at this time, however, and no further details were released.
