San Diego, CA (March 23, 2025) – Interstate 8 was temporarily shut down in the Mission Valley area Saturday night, March 22, due to a police pursuit involving two separate vehicles, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, officers began pursuing the suspects around 9:00 p.m. after reports of a burglary in Chula Vista. One vehicle was stopped in the 2200 block of Otay Lakes Road, while the other driver fled westbound on I-8, police said. The second vehicle was eventually stopped on the freeway at Texas Street in Mission Valley.
During the pursuit on I-8, a police vehicle collided with a vehicle unrelated to the pursuit. According to SDPD, there were no life-threatening injuries, but the freeway was shut down in the area for a short period of time so that the victims could be transported to an area hospital. No further details have been released as an investigation continues in the interim.
