San Diego, CA – Fatal Bicycle Crash on Salmon River Rd

San Diego, CA (December 12, 2025) – A fatal bicycle crash on Wednesday, December 10, has raised renewed concerns about cyclist safety in the Rancho Peñasquitos area. Police said a man riding a bicycle lost his life after a vehicle struck him from behind along Salmon River Road.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 5:35 p.m. Investigators stated that a fifty-one-year-old woman driving a 2019 Toyota Camry struck the cyclist as both traveled in the same direction. The driver told officers that she did not see the cyclist before the collision occurred.

Emergency crews arrived quickly, but the sixty-year-old cyclist suffered fatal injuries. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The department’s Traffic Division continues to lead the investigation to determine how it occurred.
