Los Angeles, CA (October 18, 2023) – Four Pepperdine University students were killed on Tuesday evening when a 22-year-old motorist lost control of his vehicle and hit them as they were crossing Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, per authorities who released further details about the incident on Wednesday.
The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the 21600 block of PCH, which is east of the Malibu Pier and close to La Costa Beach. The driver was charged with manslaughter on Wednesday at a news conference held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the investigation, the man was driving his black BMW westbound on PCH at high speeds when he lost control of the car, sideswiped multiple parked automobiles, and drove into the victims. At the scene, all four people were declared deceased. Two further victims, whose identities have not been released, were transported to a local hospital.
An investigation is still active in the meantime.
