Los Angeles, CA (January 11, 2024) – Good Samaritans helped victims trapped in a condo fire Thursday in Cypress, but authorities said one person was killed and another was injured. Using broomsticks to break through the windows of the burning home, neighbors were credited by firefighters with helping save several victims’ lives.
Unfortunately, one person was unable to escape the condo and was killed. The fire was reported at about 9:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of Playa Way. One unit in the complex was burning when firefighters arrived. Authorities have not shared the name of the deceased, though they added that a woman who escaped was hospitalized with injuries. Details about her condition were not immediately available, and information about how the fire started was also not released in the interim.
