San Diego, CA (February 13, 2025) – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 8 Monday, according to California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m., just east of 70th Street in La Mesa, when a rear-end collision unfolded in the eastbound lanes.
A 79-year-old man from La Mesa was driving a 2004 Toyota with a 77-year-old female passenger, also from La Mesa. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota was either traveling at a slow speed or had come to a stop in the far left lane of the freeway when the vehicle was hit by at least one other motorist. However, no further details were released, and an investigation remains ongoing.
