San Diego, CA (December 29, 2024) – A 69-year-old man using a walker to cross a street in Encanto was struck and killed by a driver in a sedan late Saturday night, San Diego police said.
The pedestrian was crossing Skyline Drive shortly after 11:05 p.m. when he was hit by a 2023 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 27-year-old man. The fatal collision occurred as the driver was heading west on Skyline near Omeara Street, near O’Farrell Charter School, police said.
The pedestrian died before he could be taken to a hospital, police said. Investigators determined alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash, and the man who died was not identified. No other details were released, but police said the crash is under investigation.
