San Diego, CA (May 4, 2026) – A 14-year-old girl died following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, May 3, in the San Carlos neighborhood. Emergency units responded to Navajo Road near Golfcrest Drive shortly after 11:30 a.m.
A 35-year-old woman driving a 2017 Mazda 6 westbound veered onto the north sidewalk, struck an 18-year-old male pedestrian, and continued forward until hitting a tree in the Navajo Road divider. The driver suffered a fractured right ankle. The pedestrian sustained a concussion and an injury to his left arm. The deceased victim was traveling in the car.
Two other child passengers, a 1-year-old and an 8-year-old, were not hurt.
Authorities did not release the identities of those involved or confirm whether alcohol played a role in the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
