Los Angeles, CA (November 4, 2023) – Two people were killed in a head-on collision early Saturday morning in Northridge, and one of them was identified as an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer.
Initial reports have placed the sad event at the corner of Roscoe Boulevard and Lindley Avenue at around 1:15 a.m.
The off-duty member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was in a white Infiniti with another off-duty officer and a third passenger when their vehicle was hit at high speed.
The suspect driver, a 20-year-old man, allegedly ran a red light and reached speeds of over 100 mph. According to investigations, LAPD officers have suggested that the man was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The off-duty officer and the passenger sitting in the right front seat of his car both died in the incident. The other off-duty officer was taken to the hospital with major injuries but is expected to recover.
An investigation remains ongoing in the interim.
