Los Angeles, CA (February 12, 2024) – A small plane crashed into a runway at John Wayne Airport Sunday morning, sending a teenage boy and a young woman to the hospital.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Rick Breitenfeldt said that the crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. when a single-engine Harmony LSA landed short on the northeast end of the runway and spun out. One person was extricated from the plane by firefighters while another managed to escape independently, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said. It was not clear who was flying the aircraft when it crashed, but local authorities continue to investigate the incident.
