Los Angeles, CA (September 16, 2025) – A deadly fire broke out on Tuesday morning, September 16, at the historic Rosslyn Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the blaze started around 2 a.m. on West 5th Street. Flames erupted on the seventh floor of the 12-story high-rise, forcing more than 100 firefighters to climb seven flights of stairs while residents sheltered in place.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze after an intense effort. During their search, they found one person dead inside a unit. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

A few units sustained fire and smoke damage, but no other injuries or deaths were reported. An arson unit is investigating the cause of the fire. We extend our condolences to the victim’s loved ones.
