Coachella, CA (April 16, 2026) – Three people lost their lives in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 near Dillon Road on Tuesday, April 14. The accident occurred just before 10 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Authorities said a Toyota Camry traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck a Honda Accord head-on. The impact caused fatal injuries to everyone involved in both vehicles.
Officials identified the Camry’s driver as a 71-year-old man from Orange, California. The Accord’s driver, a 50-year-old woman from Phoenix, Arizona, also died in the crash. A passenger in the Accord was killed as well, though officials have not yet released that person’s identity.
Investigators have not confirmed what led to the wrong-way driving. Authorities continue to investigate the crash
