Irvine, CA (May 31, 2025) – At least one person was killed after a high-speed chase on Friday morning, authorities said.
The pursuit began at 3:15 a.m. on May 30 at Indiana Street and Gleason Avenue, after officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in East Los Angeles attempted to pull the suspect over for driving at speeds that exceeded 70 mph, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig confirmed.
The man sped away, and police called off the chase, although an air unit followed the car and directed officers to where it had caused a collision in the area of Soto Street in nearby Boyle Heights. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called and stated that one person died at the site. However, no further details were released, and an investigation is ongoing.
