Irwindale, CA (July 10, 2024) – Authorities reported that a motorist in a stolen vehicle hit and killed a bicyclist in Irwindale on Tuesday evening. Around the 3500 block of Peck Road in El Monte, police received a report of a suspect stealing a car from a Toyota dealership just before 8:30 p.m.
Officers pursued the suspect, who hit a man on a bicycle several minutes later near Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road. The victim, who remains unidentified, died at the scene. The suspect exited the vehicle and escaped on foot, as per the Irwindale Police Department. He was apprehended shortly thereafter. However, no further details were released, and anyone with knowledge about the incident is urged to contact detectives as the police investigation remains ongoing.
