Glendale, CA (February 5, 2026) – A fatal train accident claimed the life of a pregnant woman on Wednesday morning, February 4, after a Metrolink train struck a car at a railroad crossing in Glendale. The collision occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Brazil Street, just west of San Fernando Road and Broadway.
Police said the sedan traveled northbound on West San Fernando Road and attempted to turn right onto Broadway, which becomes Brazil Street. As the vehicle entered the crossing, a Metrolink train traveling toward downtown Los Angeles struck the car. The woman inside the vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Debris from the collision struck a nearby male pedestrian, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life.
How Do Claims Work in California When Public Entities Are Involved?
When a crash in California involves a public entity, such as a government-operated train or transit agency, different claim rules apply. Injured parties or families usually must file a government claim within six months of the incident, which is much shorter than standard deadlines.
A wrongful death lawyer can help review the facts, explain how government claims work, and outline possible next steps based on the situation. Legal guidance may help clarify timelines, documentation, and communication with public agencies.
