Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in California?
In California, surviving family members of a deceased person can file a wrongful death claim if the death was caused by the negligence or misconduct of another party.
Typically, immediate family members, including spouses, children, and parents, are eligible to file a claim. In some cases, others who were financially dependent on the deceased may also be able to pursue a claim.
A wrongful death lawyer can help guide victims through the legal process. A lawyer will work to gather evidence, calculate damages, and ensure that the responsible party is held accountable.
