San Diego, CA (October 22, 2024) – According to the California Highway Patrol and Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, an 87-year-old woman died after a collision in Sunnyvale, police reported on November 1.
The crash involving two vehicles was reported at 11:30 a.m. in the area of El Camino Real and Cezanne Drive, prompting an emergency response from Sunnyvale DPS and fire personnel. One of the drivers suffered major injuries in the crash, and a passenger in the second car suffered moderate injuries, authorities said. Both were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The driver later died of her injuries while at the hospital.
Police said that speed or alcohol impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash. However, the fatal collision is under investigation by the Sunnyvale DPS Major Accident Investigation Team; anyone with information for police can contact investigator Jessi Montgomery.
