San Ysidro, CA (April 27, 2024) – One person was sent to the hospital with major injuries following a two-vehicle crash in San Ysidro, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 22-year-old man was traveling northbound in the 1800 block of Howard Avenue around 3:50 a.m. when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Police said the driver collided with a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 49-year-old man. During the crash, the Toyota’s seats collapsed backward, and a passenger was several hurt. EMTs said the victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a fractured thoracic vertebrae and “no feeling below the waist.” However, no further information on their condition was provided by authorities, and an investigation is ongoing.
