San Diego, CA – Worker Dies in Shipyard Accident on Harbor Dr

San Diego, CA (August 14, 2024) – A man working along San Diego’s waterfront on Monday died after sustaining injuries in an industrial accident, officials said.

According to the medical examiner’s office, the man was killed at the shipyard when an object fell and struck him. Harbor Police are investigating the incident that happened at about 12:15 p.m. at General Dynamic’s National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) facility in the 2700 block of Harbor Drive.

A San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman said the call came in as a fall and that the victim died at the scene of the accident. She did not specify what fell and led to the death of the worker. However, no further details were released in the meantime, as the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
