Time Limits to File a Claim Involving Public Entities in Los Angeles
In Los Angeles, strict deadlines apply when a crash involves a public entity such as the city, police department, or fire department. Under California law, an injured person typically must file a government claim within six months of the date of the accident. Missing this deadline can limit the ability to seek compensation.
After filing a claim, the government agency reviews it before a lawsuit can move forward. These cases follow different rules from standard car accident claims. Speaking with a Los Angeles personal injury attorney can help clarify deadlines and required documents.
