San Diego, CA (September 11, 2024) – Two people were injured during a suspected DUI crash in Otay Mesa over the weekend, and authorities have now released further information related to the crash.
According to officers with the San Diego Police Department, a 24-year-old woman was driving a 2012 Honda Accord southbound on La Media Road around 11:45 p.m., approaching Otay Mesa Road, when she was involved in a collision with a 51-year-old man driving a 2017 Toyota Prius eastbound on Otay Mesa.
The front passenger of the Honda was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe facial lacerations, a left orbital fracture, and a concussion. Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota sustained a fractured sternum. Injuries for both parties were deemed non-life threatening. Per the latest reports, driving under the influence is suspected as a factor in the collision. However, the Traffic Division is still investigating the incident.
