San Diego, CA (October 15, 2024) – A pedestrian was killed on Sunday evening when a car went off the road on a San Diego freeway off-ramp.
The crash was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at around 9:10 p.m. Sunday on the Imperial Avenue off-ramp from the southbound San Diego (5) Freeway near downtown. The car crashed into a cement barrier, went down an embankment, and hit a transformer, which struck the pedestrian, a witness told the CHP. The agency reported the pedestrian died. Police did not say whether the driver was cited or arrested, and no other details were released in the interim. An investigation is still ongoing.
