San Diego, CA (October 27, 2023) – On Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported that a pedestrian had been hit by a car while crossing Interstate 8.
Around 8:40 a.m., east of Baltimore Drive, a 38-year-old San Diego man was walking in the far right lane of westbound I-8, according to CHP.
A 66-year-old San Diego woman allegedly traveled in the same lane in a white 2004 Chevrolet truck before hitting the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
The Chevy’s driver was brought to Grossmont Hospital for treatment of minor wounds.
The CHP reports that the Chevrolet driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. However, officers are still investigating.
