San Diego, CA (June 23, 2025) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a reported hit-and-run after a man was killed in San Diego overnight on June 23, and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in San Diego responded to a vehicle and pedestrian crash at 12:44 a.m. on Friday. CHP reports that an adult man was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene while he was walking on the Hawthorn Street off-ramp, close to Interstate 5 northbound and Little Italy.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, seeking any information that may lead to the identification of the suspect.
