San Diego, CA – Burn Injuries in Apt Fire at Zion & Archwood Aves

San Diego, CA (July 22, 2025) – An early morning fire at a San Diego apartment resulted in injuries on Tuesday morning, July 22, and firefighters say the blaze may have started after a resident fell asleep while cooking.

The fire was reported at 5:18 a.m. in the area of Zion and Archwood Avenues, in the Grantville area. Fire officials stated that crews who responded saw smoke coming from the eastern side of the first floor.

Crews determined that the fire was contained in the kitchen of one of the units and were able to extinguish it over the next hour. EMTs also arrived at the site and assessed at least one person for burn injuries. One victim reportedly sustained burns in the incident, but their current condition is still unknown. However, authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, and no further details were released. We hope those hurt in this fire accident recover rapidly.
