San Diego, CA (January 4, 2025) – A man who was riding a bicycle in Encinitas on Wednesday, January 1, was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Cerro Street Wednesday just before 6:00 p.m.
Authorities said a 79-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard when it collided with the 45-year-old bicyclist. Alcohol was not determined to be a factor in the crash, but police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the San Diego Police Department in the meantime.
