Orange, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Collision w/Police Vehicle on Chapman Ave

Orange, CA (August 28, 2025) – Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision involving an Orange County Sheriff’s Department SUV on Wednesday night in the city of Orange.

According to the Orange Police Department, officers responded around 10:15 p.m. to the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Prospect Street. Investigators determined that the victim was crossing the street when he was struck by the sheriff’s department vehicle.

The deputy driving the SUV was not using lights or sirens at the time of the crash, according to authorities.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange Fire Department personnel. Traffic on Chapman Avenue was closed between Prospect and James Streets for several hours while police investigated the circumstances of the crash. However, the incident remains under investigation.
