Los Angeles, CA (October 22, 2023) – On Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol reported that a person got out of their vehicle and was hit by another driver, stopping traffic on both lanes of northbound Interstate 5 through downtown.
CHP records show that at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had stopped in the third highway lane, just south of the exit for State Route 94. After being immobilized in his lane, the motorist turned on his warning lights.
CHP claimed that when the individual got out of the vehicle and moved toward the shoulder, another car hit them. At 9:05 p.m., the victim was taken by ambulance to Scripps Mercy Hospital. It is unclear how serious their injuries are or what their present condition is.
An investigation remains active in the meantime.
