Los Angeles, CA (October 10, 2023) – On Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol began their chase of an intoxicated motorist in East Los Angeles, which eventually ended in an injury-causing crash on Tuesday.
The black Nissan Altima’s driver was clocked driving over 110 miles per hour.
When the driver crashed into a stopped dump truck on the northbound 5 Freeway at the Lankershim off-ramp, which had been involved in a prior traffic incident on the off-ramp, the chase ended just before 10:00 p.m. The suspect in the chase was sent to the hospital in serious condition, and EMTs evaluated at least two others at the scene.
There were no further known casualties.
The East LA Office of the CHP is in charge of the investigation.
