San Diego, CA (October 10, 2023) – On Tuesday, a worker fell roughly 30 feet from scaffolding next to the framework of an apartment building being built in North Park, striking live electrical cables on the way down and sustaining significant injuries.
Firefighters and police in San Diego said the industrial accident happened at 10:00 a.m. on Oregon Street, in the 3900 block, close to University Avenue.
Officer Scott Lockwood of the San Diego Police Department’s public relations division stated that preliminary information from the site suggested that the victim had been severely burned after being shocked by electrical transmission equipment.
Perette Godwin, a spokesperson for the San Diego Fire Department, stated that paramedics transported the injured worker to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest.
An investigation is still ongoing in the meantime.
