Hollywood, CA (October 5, 2023) – On Thursday morning, October 5, the southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway in Hollywood were closed after a pedestrian was hit and killed.
The accident was reported just before 6:00 a.m. on Vermont Avenue, and a SigAlert was issued as a result, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident record.
Whether the driver stayed at the site was unknown. Authorities originally redirected all southbound traffic at Vermont Avenue while investigating; drivers were then redirected to Melrose Avenue.
The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear, but CHP troopers continue investigating.
