Escondido, CA (September 18, 2024) – According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was killed Tuesday in a crash at a North County intersection, authorities said.
Miguel Leonides Garcia, 58, was crossing the street shortly after 6:00 a.m. at Broadway Avenue and Mission Avenue in Escondido when he was struck by a vehicle, according to the Escondido Police Department. Garcia was struck by a vehicle turning right onto northbound Broadway, police confirmed in a news release. Garcia, an Escondido resident, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. However, no further details were released. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the accident to call the CHP as the investigation continues in the interim.
