Corona, CA (April 30, 2024) – A motorist was killed early Monday, April 29, when his car overturned and caught fire after getting struck by a drunk driver on the 91 Freeway in Corona, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 12:25 a.m. in the westbound lanes just east of the 15 Freeway. The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a Lincoln Mark LT suddenly veered to the right and clipped the left rear of a Toyota 4Runner, causing the Toyota to crash, the CHP said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lincoln driver, a 24-year-old man from Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said. However, the victim has not been publicly identified, and no further details were released.
