San Diego, CA (May 13, 2025) – A motorcycle rider was killed and his passenger injured Sunday night in a traffic accident involving an SUV near Explorer Road in the Casa de Oro-Mount Helix area in East County.
The two-vehicle collision happened around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, at Avocado Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 22-year-old El Cajon man was riding a Ducati motorcycle northbound on Avocado when a southbound Ford Explorer turned east onto Explorer Road. The two vehicles crashed head-on, and the young man was thrown off the bike, the CHP said. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, officers noted, but an investigation is ongoing.
