Los Angeles, CA (October 8, 2023) – One of two Oceanside motorcyclists was killed early Saturday after they collided with another vehicle on Interstate 5 at the boundary between Orange and San Diego Counties.
The CHP reports that at roughly 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, officers were sent to the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the San Onofre Border Patrol Checkpoint.
According to reports, a 20-year-old Yamaha rider was involved in a collision with a 22-year-old Honda CBR600 rider, throwing both riders off their bikes.
One rider was killed instantly on the Yamaha, while the other was brought to the hospital with significant injuries. The CHP determined that neither alcohol nor drugs had a role in the collision.
According to the CHP, both motorcyclists were locals of Oceanside.
