San Diego, CA (October 27, 2024) – A man died after a wrong-way crash on State Route 76 in Oceanside Saturday night, October 26.
The Oceanside Police Department said that the crash took place at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on State Route 76 just west of Melrose Drive. A tan Buick Century apparently collided with a white Honda Clarity around that time, police said. One victim suffered major injuries and died at the scene shortly afterward. His identity was not immediately available, and it’s unclear if anybody else was transported to an area hospital.
According to police, alcohol and/or drugs were suspected to be factors in the crash. The California Highway Patrol office in Oceanside urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them.
