Los Angeles, CA (December 13, 2023) – On Tuesday, the chief of police in Los Angeles said that an internal inquiry had been launched into the actions of the officer whose patrol vehicle hit a pedestrian in South Los Angeles on Friday, killing the victim.
At about 5:00 p.m., a police vehicle collided with a pedestrian near McKinley Avenue on Century Boulevard; the victim died at the scene. The 26-year-old man was treated by EMTs at the scene, though he was pronounced dead before he could be taken to a local hospital. Confirmation of the man’s identity and notification of his next of kin are ongoing processes, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Moore said that the officer was put on administrative leave and withdrawn from field duties, but an investigation is still ongoing.
