San Diego, CA (August 21, 2025) – A man was arrested in San Marcos on Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless driving after he crashed head-on into a vehicle, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash reportedly occurred around 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of Cox Road and Mulberry Drive, located northeast of California State University San Marcos.
The 42-year-old man was driving a Nissan minivan when he sideswiped a vehicle he was attempting to pass, according to witnesses. After sideswiping that vehicle, he reportedly crashed head-on with a Lexus sedan that was driven by a 22-year-old man.
The man driving the sedan was taken to the hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries, according to authorities. The driver of the minivan reportedly stayed at the scene and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries before being arrested. No further details were released in the meantime. Witnesses were asked to step forward as soon as possible.
