San Diego, CA – Child Fatally Struck on Electric Scooter on Tango Loop

San Diego, CA (July 14, 2025) – An 8-year-old child was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in Chula Vista, authorities informed on Monday.

The boy was struck around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, in the 2000 block of Tango Loop, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. Police said bystanders used a hydraulic jack to free the child, who was pinned underneath the vehicle.

First responders performed lifesaving measures on the child until he was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name was not immediately released. The inquiry by the Chula Vista Police Department’s Traffic Division remains ongoing at this time. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
