San Diego, CA – Bicyclist Hurt in Hit-and-Run on Rancho Penasquitos Blvd

San Diego, CA (July 14, 2024) – According to authorities, a hit-and-run collision occurred in Rancho Peñasquitos on Sunday morning, resulting in the critical injury of a 60-year-old woman.

Per the San Diego Police Department, the victim was traveling eastbound on a Polygon Entity mountain bike in the 13100 block of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard at approximately 8:40 a.m. At that time, a silver or gray midsized SUV driven by an unknown individual was traveling in the same direction when it abruptly veered to the right and collided with the bicyclist before fleeing the site.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and rushed into surgery. Police say she suffered a fractured neck and a substantial cerebral hemorrhage. The injuries sustained by the victim are deemed to be life-threatening. The Traffic Investigations Unit will investigate; however, witnesses with additional information were asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
