Orange, CA (October 19, 2023) – A 73-year-old bicyclist was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Thursday morning, October 19.
At 9:00 a.m., the Orange Police Department and the Orange Fire Department responded to the junction of Canyon View Avenue and Skylark Place in response to reports of a traffic crash. According to preliminary inquiries, a Volkswagen Jetta was seen heading east on Canyon View. The victim was crossing Skylark Avenue heading north when he was hit by the Jetta’s driver.
The rider died from severe injuries at the scene. The woman who was driving the Volkswagen Jetta stayed at the scene, though it’s unclear if citations or charges are pending.
The Traffic Unit came to the scene and took over the inquiry. Det. A. Rocha may be reached by anybody with information.
