Manteca, CA (August 22, 2025) – A fatal crash early Friday morning shut down lanes on southbound Highway 99 in the Manteca area of San Joaquin County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred on August 22, around 5:20 a.m., prompting a major emergency response including Stockton Fire crews and multiple tow companies. Initial reports indicated major injuries, but CHP later confirmed the incident as a fatality at 7:22 a.m.
For a time, traffic was slowed in the area as crews worked to reach the scene, clear the wreckage, and treat the injured. By 7:20 a.m., CHP reported that all lanes had reopened. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of the family. However, an investigation is still ongoing in the interim.
