Los Angeles, CA (March 3, 2026) – A woman died early Saturday morning, February 28, after a two-vehicle crash in downtown Los Angeles.
The collision occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd Street and Figueroa Street. Police said a white SUV and a white sedan collided at the intersection. During the crash, a female passenger in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency units arrived and found the woman unconscious and not breathing. Firefighters performed CPR while transporting her to a nearby hospital, where doctors later pronounced her dead.
The SUV driver stayed at the scene, underwent a DUI test, and officers arrested that driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. The sedan driver remained at the scene and did not require hospital transport, though a second ambulance later responded for a man reporting head pain.
Investigators continue to review the cause of the accident.
We extend our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
Does a Police Report Affect a Wrongful Death Lawsuit in California?
Yes, a police report can play an important role in a California wrongful death lawsuit. Officers document key details such as driver statements, road conditions, and any signs of alcohol or drug use. That information may help attorneys and insurance companies evaluate what happened during the crash.
A wrongful death claim allows certain family members to seek financial recovery after a fatal collision. In California, families generally have two years from the date of death to file a lawsuit. A Los Angeles wrongful death attorney can review the police report, medical records, and other evidence to explain what legal options may apply.
