Los Angeles, CA (September 19, 2023) – A high-speed chase ended in a car accident near Commerce on the I-5 when a car flipped over and caught fire, as reported by local officers.
Officers in east Los Angeles were trying to stop the driver of a black Mercedes motorist wanted in connection with an attempted attack on a deputy. After a 45-minute pursuit, police from the California Highway Patrol used spike strips to disable the suspect’s car, causing a rollover and crash near the 710 Freeway.
It’s unclear how many vehicles or victims were involved, but paramedics were spotted at the scene to transport those who were hurt. The suspect was also apprehended in the interim.
An investigation by CHP troopers remains active at this time.
