Who Can Be Held Liable for a Residential Fire in California?
Property owners and landlords may be held liable if they fail to maintain safe conditions. Faulty wiring, poor maintenance, or code violations can place responsibility on them. Property managers may also share liability if they oversee unsafe conditions. Tenants, contractors, or equipment manufacturers may also be responsible in some cases.
Negligent use of appliances, unsafe repairs, or defective products can contribute to a fire. Fault determination depends on how the fire started and who had control over the conditions.
A Los Angeles personal injury attorney can review fire reports, inspect maintenance records, and identify parties who may be responsible.
