Long Beach, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on PCH at Molino Ave

Long Beach, CA (June 9, 2024) – Authorities stated a driver hit a man on the Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach early Sunday morning, fleeing the scene and leaving him to be struck and killed by two other vehicles.

Preliminary information indicates that officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to reports of the crash at about 2:25 a.m. The investigation revealed that an unknown vehicle was driving eastbound on PCH when it hit the man near the intersection with Molino Avenue. The driver fled the scene before police arrived.

While lying in the first lane, the man was struck again by the driver of a 2017 Kia Sportage. That driver pulled over and called 911 to report the collision. As they were waiting for responding officers, the Kia driver said they saw a truck hit and drag the man before also leaving the site. The Kia driver remained and cooperated with the police, though the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional details were immediately made available, but anyone with information regarding the collision was asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detectives.
