Englewood, CA (September 15, 2023) – According to Sergeant Mike Lang of the Englewood Police Department, at least five persons were sent to the hospital after a vehicle collision earlier this week.
On North Main Street near Sweet Potato Ridge Road, an Englewood police officer attempted a traffic stop on a tan Volvo for speeding and false license plates. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.
Shortly thereafter, the driver of the Volvo was attempting to make a left turn onto Sweet Potato Ridge Road when they allegedly T-boned a white Toyota. The Volvo driver then turned left onto a sidewalk, where they collided with two people heading south. The two pedestrians were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the sergeant said.
The first officer pursuing the Volvo exited their vehicle and helped perform CPR on the two pedestrians. The Toyota driver was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Lang. Two others were also transferred to a medical center and assessed for minor injuries as a precaution.
A K-9 unit eventually tracked down two suspects, who escaped on foot from the Volvo, and apprehended both of them. The investigation has been turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in the interim.
